Caveats and research notes
H 3190 (2025-2026 session, https://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess126_2025-2026/bills/3190.htm) would amend § 26-1-100(A) to ten dollars per signature/per person; search results described it as pending, not enacted, and the current Code page still shows five dollars. The SOS Notary Public Reference Manual 2023 (https://sos.sc.gov/sites/sos/files/Documents/Mail%20In%20Service/Notaries/Notary%20Public%20Reference%20Manual%202023.pdf) states notaries 'may charge up to $5.00 per document, pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §26-1-100(A)' (note: manual says 'per document' while the statute says per signature). Re-check H 3190 status before relying on the $5 figure long-term.
