Acknowledgment: Up to $10.00 first signature + $1.00 each additional
Texas Gov't Code § 406.024 sets maximum notary fees: $10 for the first signature and $1 for each additional signature for acknowledgments/proofs, $10 for administering an oath or affirmation with certificate and seal, $1 per page for copies of records in the notary's office, and $1 per 100 words for depositions; charging more is grounds for prosecution and commission suspension/revocation.

How Texas counts notary fees
First signature, then each additional (restarts per document)
Acknowledgment: the maximum is $10.00 for the first signature and $1.00 for each additional signature, and the first-signature amount starts over for each document. So the same number of signatures can have very different maximums depending on how many documents they are spread across.
- 3 signatures on one document: $10.00 + 2 × $1.00 = $12.00
- 3 signatures, one on each of 3 documents: 3 × $10.00 = $30.00
- 4 signatures across 2 documents: 2 × $10.00 + 2 × $1.00 = $22.00
Counted per notarial act
Oath / affirmation: each notarial act performed is capped at $10.00. The maximum for several acts is the number of acts times the per-act cap.

A notary public may charge a fee in writing for taking the acknowledgment or proof of a deed with certificate and seal of $10 for the first signature and $1 for each additional signature. ... For administering an oath or affirmation with certificate and seal, the fee is $10. ... $1 for each page for a copy of a record or paper in the notary public's office, and $1 for each 100 words for taking the deposition of a witness. ... Texas Government Code §406.024 specifies the maximum fees for an official act performed by a notary public, and a lesser fee is allowed or no fee at all may be charged. Excessive fees are grounds for disciplinary action.
