Illinois caps fees at $5 for any non-electronic notarial act and up to $25 for an electronic notarial act. Search-result renderings of the statute text were partially inconsistent about the wording of the $25 clause, so a human should confirm the exact subsection.

How Illinois counts notary fees
Counted per notarial act
Acknowledgment, jurat, oath / affirmation, copy certification, signature witnessing, verification on oath, electronic notarization and any other notarial act: each notarial act performed is capped at $5.00 (or the amount listed for that act). The maximum for several acts is the number of acts times the per-act cap.

Electronic and remote notarization
up to $25 for any electronic notarial act performed (5 ILCS 312/3-104). Separately, every applicant for a commission as an electronic notary public shall pay to the Secretary of State a fee of $25, which is in addition to the fee for a commission as a notary public (commission fee, not a service fee).

Caveats and research notes
Search results from ilga.gov gave three slightly different renderings of the $25 clause ('any electronic notarial act performed'; 'any notarial act performed pursuant to Section 3-102'; 'any Driver Services Homeless Status Certification form'). The $5 non-electronic cap was consistent across all results. Provisions on fee posting and travel fees, if any, were not surfaced.
